China Railway Chengdu Bureau: The 'Beautiful Mountains and Rivers, Colorful Guizhou' tourist train has added a round-trip summer sightseeing route from Guiyang to Panzhihua South
Date: 2026-08-19
Recently, China Railway Chengdu Group's "Beautiful Mountains and Rivers, Colorful Guizhou" tourist train has launched a new operating arrangement, adding a summer sightseeing route from Guiyang to Panzhihua South. The special train, equipped with full soft sleeper configuration, connects the mountains, waters, and villages in Zunyi, Chongqing West, Chengdu West, and Xichang West, providing new product choices for the summer travel market and serving as a practical example for empowering regional cultural and tourism development with transportation.
The core value of tourist trains lies in integrating transportation and tourism experience. In the past, most people took the railway as a means of transportation to reach their destination, and the journey process was rarely included in the tourism experience; And this newly added summer sightseeing route has turned the 'rush' itself into a journey. The train consists of 11 carriages, including soft sleeper carriages, dining carriages, and multifunctional sightseeing carriages. The main color scheme is purple, incorporating Southwest ethnic patterns to visually present regional cultural symbols, transforming the carriages from transport containers into perceptible Southwest style spaces.
The hardware upgrade targets real travel needs, not conceptual cultural packaging. Soft sleeper rooms are equipped with basic equipment such as tea tables, charging ports, and call devices; For elderly passengers, the sleeper ladder will be widened to improve the passage conditions for upper and lower bunk beds - this is a practical aging adjustment for the silver haired customer group. On the sightseeing level, the carriage is equipped with large-sized floor to ceiling glass windows to weaken the obstruction of the vehicle's view, and the landscapes of mountains, forests, fields, and villages along the route are visually displayed during the journey; KTV and other leisure facilities balance sightseeing and travel entertainment, filling time into the scenery.
The route connects scattered cultural and tourism resources into a single line. The special train passes through stations such as Zunyi, Chongqing West, Chengdu West, and Xichang West, covering multiple cities in Sichuan, Chongqing, and Guizhou, and incorporating local customs such as the Liangshan Torch Festival into its travel radiation range. A single route not only provides passengers with access to multiple destinations, but also brings tangible growth to summer cultural and tourism consumption - the integration of transportation and cultural tourism is not a simple concept overlay, but a practical adjustment made by the supply side according to market changes: based on the existing road network, mining regional resources, optimizing carriage hardware and route layout, we can develop characteristic passenger transport products that meet the needs of the masses.
From an industry perspective, the addition of a summer escape line on the "Colorful Guizhou" is another footnote to the railway's shift from "passenger transport" to "attraction". When the value of a train is no longer limited to delivering people, but makes the journey itself a consumable content, the transportation capacity is transformed into cultural and tourism product power. The southwestern region is characterized by high mountains and scattered scenery, as well as rich folk customs, making it perfect for activating resources through the "one line, multiple points" special train logic; The continuous iteration of railway supply will provide more solid transportation support for regional cultural tourism than single marketing - whoever can turn the carriage into a destination will hold the initiative of attracting traffic on the track.
